Back-end customers are owners of synthetic turf pitches, who require infill (granulated rubber) for maintenance and top up of existing installations as well as installers who make the decision to use recycled clean sand and granulated rubber for new pitch installations.
There are plenty of other applications, outside the turf industry, for the recycled infill (sand and rubber).
The sand (99.5% clean) and rubber (99.95% clean), or a combination hereof, has a long list of viable re-use and re-cycling options:
The granulated grass fibers are used within a host of other industries and recycled by compounding/pelletizing, ready to be used in the production of new plastic products. Other applications include synthetic wood, posts, pallets, injection/compression molded parts and products.
Efforts are also being made within the industry to achieve a circular economy by which the granulated grass fibers enter into the production of new turf.
